With the beautiful picture panels depicting the scenes of the Swiss ) and the history of the city, it is the symbol of Lucerne.

Lion Monument in Lucerne
The Dying Lion of Lucerne

For centuries, Swiss farmers served as mercenaries in foreign armies. The lion was carved into the natural rock to commemorate the heroic death of those who died in the Tuileries in 1792. Bundesbriefmuseum Schwyz
History between myths and facts

The Museum of Federal Letters in Schwyz was established between 1934 and 1936 as a means of demarcation against the increasingly threatening National Socialism. The Federal Charter of 1291, which was considered the founding document of the Confederation, was of central importance. Today the museum is a modern museum that illustrates the checkered history between conflicts and breaks, compromises and cooperation of the Old Confederation.
